Tummetott - Mayan Warrior - Burning Man 2022

"As a first time burner or virgin (as some would like to say) I couldn't wrap my head around what I was going to experience - I suddenly found myself in the desert torn between the beauty, adventure, excitement of the place and the abundance that makes such hedonism possible. I couldn't help but wonder if it was really necessary to travel to the desert, a place that can be so hostile to life. And then it caught me after all, the magic that everyone talks about. The Burning Man spirit, the fundamental idea of sharing, the warm-heartedness, the beautiful encounters, the indescribable sunrises, the surreal mountains on the horizon, the many bicycles and an endless sea of LEDs. The night before my show at Mayan Warrior, I just wanted to take a quick look at the art car and then go to sleep, but when I got there I could not leave. The art car's lasers were reflected in Michael Benisty's sculpture "Reflection" and colored the surroundings in soft green with periodical flame throwers which lit up the faces of the people. Mandrake was playing an incredibly good set that made the crowd go wild. The art car's majestic warrior like face glowed in the night, watching over the sea of bicycles parked in front of it. In the morning hours, about an hour after sunrise, I went on stage, tired but happy, and took over the music. I thank the hard-bitten ravers who danced so excessively with me despite the rising heat.
